Cookies
We only use functional cookies (LiteSpeed cache and optional comment cookies). No tracking or advertising cookies are used.
Analytics and tracking tools
We use third-party analytics tools to understand how visitors interact with Top Picks Canada so we can improve our content and user experience. These tools may collect information such as the pages you visit, how long you stay, your approximate location (country/region level), your device type and browser, and the website or search engine that referred you to us.
Google Analytics 4 (GA4)
We use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC (“Google”), to measure site traffic and user behaviour in aggregate. GA4 uses cookies and similar technologies to collect non-identifying usage data, which is transmitted to and stored by Google on servers that may be located outside of Canada (including in the United States). Google may use this data in accordance with its own Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Microsoft Clarity
We use Microsoft Clarity, a behavioural analytics service provided by Microsoft Corporation. Clarity captures anonymised user interaction data including clicks, scrolling patterns, mouse movements, and aggregated session recordings. These recordings do not include keystrokes in form fields and any text you type is masked by default. Clarity helps us identify usability issues (e.g., confusing layouts, broken interactions) so we can fix them. Data is processed in accordance with Microsoft’s Privacy Statement. You can learn more at the Microsoft Clarity website.
Opting out
You can block analytics scripts at any time by using a privacy-focused browser (such as Brave or Firefox with Enhanced Tracking Protection), a browser extension like uBlock Origin or Privacy Badger, or by enabling “Do Not Track” in your browser settings. We honour Do Not Track signals where technically feasible.
Data storage and transfers
We operate from Gatineau, Quebec. Hosting providers may store data outside Quebec (including the U.S. and Europe).
We assess the privacy risks of using third-party service providers, including cross-border data transfers, in accordance with Quebec Law 25.
Safeguards
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your information against unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse.
Retention
- Server logs: up to 30 days
- Comments: retained indefinitely unless removed on request
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, delete, or request your data. Quebec residents have additional rights including portability and de-indexing.
Data breaches
If a breach creates a risk of serious harm, we will notify affected users and regulators as required by law.
